A Very Merry Recap

Well hi there my lovelies! I hope you all had a very merry holiday week! I will be popping in and out of the blog until the first of the year but I thought I'd take a second and give y'all a little recap of our Christmas week!
One of my favorite things about celebrating our first few Christmases far away from home is that it's helped us make our very own traditions (plus we've never had an argument over whose family to spend the holidays with). Last year our Christmas was a little hectic because we were trying to cram Christmas shopping, sight seeing, and furniture hunting into four days of having a rental car, but this year was definitely one for the books.

Christmas Eve day was spent baking gingerbread cookies and wrapping presents. Zach and I went on a little dinner date to Ruby Tuesdays (thanks Mom & Dad C for the gift card!) before we finished up some last minute holiday shopping. I loved seeing all the hustle and bustle that comes with only one hour till store closing--I'm not sure if it was some early Mele Kalikimaka cheer or not but it was definitely the friendliest I've seen people around here. After I trailed my husband through the store trying to figure out what he was getting me for my stocking stuffer (a movie), we headed home to open presents.

Yes, we open presents Christmas Eve--my mom and I used to do it on the years we had a ton of relatives over for the holidays and I loved sipping hot chocolate with only the tree lighting the darkened room and soft carols playing in the background. So that's exactly what we did this year! And, being the amazing memory maker that I am, we took a ton of pictures and even a video of the whole present opening process. Definitely a tradition Zach and I want to carry on! And, of course, Christmas Eve wouldn't be complete without White Christmas!
Zach, a very happy man, with his new wrench set and the newest Fast and Furious movie.

Me with my two favorite presents from my soldier boy santa--the movie Brave and Monopoly.

Christmas morning we spent with the phone on speaker talking to what seemed like all of my family members (yes, Mom, that cough I have DOES mean I'm dying of pneumonia) before we headed out to the beach. YEP, the beach on Christmas day--one of the great perks of living in Hawaii. Originally I'd planned on staying at the beach for the afternoon to take some pictures for the blog and home decor but North Shore ended up being a tad bit too crowded so instead Hubs and I decided on a drive down the coast. It was relaxing, well except for the three seconds when I was sure we wouldn't brake fast enough to avoid hitting the van of sightseers in front of us. Zach and I decided after Thanksgiving to take Christmas easy in the food department so we ended up eating McDonalds (gasp, horrible I know!) while watching "The Holiday". All in all it was a pretty amazing Christmas!

A recap of our holiday wouldn't be complete though without mentioning what I received in the mail today though--a brand new 2014 Erin Condren planner!!!!! A big huge thank you to my mum and dad-in-love for reading my wishlist and picking something for me they knew I would love! I really hit the jackpot when it comes to them, folks--be jealous!

Alright then, lovelies, that's it for today. I will be back on Wednesday with a new blog design and a bunch of new posts lined up. In the meantime, don't forget the Sunday social linkup and my recipe a la Pioneer Woman for super easy homemade pizza coming on Monday!!

What was your favorite present this Christmas? Did you start any new traditions this year?
