Something I Admire

Well, I wish I could say that the reason you haven't seen hide nor hair of me these past few days is that I've been holed up in my little writing nook (or better yet, lying on a beach typing merrily away) composing five or six or ten content-filled posts to schedule throughout this lovely little month of January. Unfortunately though, if I told you that, I would be lying. Truth be told, I've started a lot of posts and then deleted them. All of my posts are just not gelling well once they're on paper which is sad because I kinda was hoping this would be one of my easiest goals. This whole content-heavy thing is HARD!!!! Never fear though, I will keep plugging away. In the mean time, I've done a major overhaul of any and all things pertaining to the blog on my computer and 2013 is officially on the books and no longer taking up data space. Kudos to moi for accomplishing something right!!
Speaking of accomplishing things, though, today is the weekly Girl Between the Lines linkup and I'm really excited for the prompt that Hayley and Lauren have given this week.

"Tell us about a characteristic you admire in someone else"
Honestly when I first looked at this prompt, I was stumped. There were just so many people who came to mind when I thought about traits that I admire-my mom, my aunt Polly, my grandmother, my husband.

AHA! I thought of course I can't leave the poor man stranded there in a list filled with women--not to mention that, being married to him and all, I think the hubs is pretty amazing and will take every opportunity to brag about him. And then I got to thinking that the trait I most admire in Zach is pretty much the trait I admire in each person on my list--strength. No, not physical strength (even thought Zach has that too), more like strength of character.

The strength to overcome obstacles that seem impossible to conquer. The strength to persevere at something even when everyone around them is telling them they can't. The strength to build a better life than the one they had. The strength to do something they're afraid of. The strength to take the high road. The strength to be weak. The strength to confront a challenge and determine to beat it, no matter what. The strength to become a better person than they were a year ago or two or ten.

I admire their gutsiness and determination, their patience and discipline, but most of all I admire that they never give up on what they believe or who they believe in. I know that they will never give up on me no matter how many times I feel like giving up on myself.
