Hi guys! I am excited that Elizabeth asked me to guest post on the blog during her break! She is one of my good blogging friends and I love the stuff she writes. I'm Amberly and I blog over at Life with Amberly and Joe. I blog and write posts about finances in marriage, goals I set to be a better wife, funny moments we have as a couple and everything else marriage. I am currently pursuing a degree in Family Studies and my career goal is to be a Marriage Educator so marriage relationships are something I'm really passionate about.
Joe and I have been married for just over two and a half years now, which feels like a really long time to me, it's the longest I've ever been in a relationship. I always thought that we'd know everything about each other after a year or so, especially because I'm a huge talker and like to share everything I'm thinking. That hasn't been the case though, we're always learning something new about our personalities, likes and dislikes, interests, dreams, and the things in our past that have made us who we are today.
In our marriage, we've learned a lot about finances, budgeting and getting out of debt. Money talk in our relationship is exciting and fun and doesn't cause very many arguments or fights because we've worked hard to make it that way. I am constantly setting goals that encourage us to be a better couple and improve ourselves and our relationship every day. Our puppy has helped us learn how to tackle and share responsibilities and how to be less selfish. Every experience we go through together teaches us something new.
Being married has taught me a lot, but I know there is still a lot more for me to learn. I'm still working to improve my communication skills, be more productive and efficient, and balance my activities and responsibilities in life. I have to be more patient with myself and my husband and more flexible so that I can take life as it comes without stressing out too much. Marriage is an ongoing journey that you embark on with your spouse, the best partner in learning that you could have!
What things have you learned in your marriage or relationship so far?
