The One Where I Get Inspired {June Directive}

First of all I feel like I should make some White Rabbit a la Alice in Wonderland comment because I'm literally just now sitting down to write this post at 10 in the morning..... But I won't because apologies and pet peeves and real life and this post

(Just know that I'm actually doing this in my head as I'm writing this)

If you've been following along with me every month, you know that I do this thing where I make a goal for the next four weeks, tell y'all about it, and then try my best to accomplish it by the end of the month. It's called a Directive and my gal Jessica is the brains behind the worksheets, the linkup, the google community, and the hashtags of the 2014 Directive.

HOW I'VE BEEN DOING

In January, I focused on writing better blog posts (check), February was all about getting my workout on (half check), March was pretty much the same thing because I pretty much failed in February (teensy quarter of a check), hubby's birthday month meant that my focus turned to making better meals and staying organized on my blog (check mark!) as well as maintaining my workout regimen (eh half check).

Not bad, right? So far no complete failures in the bunch! And then there was May. If you remember, my goal for May was to focus on learning manual photography and making my pictures look awesome along with working out and writing ten great blog posts. Let's see how I did.

Exhibit A: TEN Absolutely Amazing Blog Posts

DIY Faux Chalkboard Photo Backdrop
I Won't Read Your Blog IF
Tips for Starting a Blog Calendar
You Know You're a Military Wife When
A Very Aloha Bucket List
My Favorite Characters of All Times
Editing Your Photos in 3 Easy Steps
Cheez-it Chicken Fingers {recipe featured on Delicious Dish Tuesday}
Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins
Cheeseburger Quesadillas

Ok so I might have cheated a little because I included a few recipes in there but hey those were some pretty awesome sauce recipes!
I call this a WIN!

Exhibit B: Continue Exercising with Jillian 3 Times a Week

This actually became more of a exercise 3 times a day every week day kind of thing. Yep you read that right--this gal did the whole Jillian Michael thing for an hour and a half every gosh darn day this month (well except weekends...those are for runs/walks). Granted all that hard work, blood, sweat, and many tears only cost me 6 pounds on the old scale but I do feel healthier. And I can definitely see that I'm getting more toned in my thighs and boot-ay which are two of my problem areas. Now to work on my tummy pooch. Hopefully this means I'll have no problems fitting in any of the three ball dresses I'm trying on today and can make my decision solely based on which dress I look taller in instead of which dress makes me look less like a tub o'lard. Yeah...I'll let you know how that goes.
Definitely a win....win....WIN!!!

Exhibit C: Learn How to Use Manual Mode of My Camera

I'm going to be completely honest and admit to y'all that I didn't even try to do this part of the directive this month. I'm going to blame it on the fact that somewhere in the first week all of my creative juices stopped flowing and I barely could keep this bloggy blog going on. I did focus a little more on editing my photos (yesterday's post obviously) and composing better graphics for my posts but as far as the actual camera work, this is a huge fail. Sadness.

JUNE DIRECTIVE

If you didn't know, which you probably wouldn't unless you were me, June 3rd is the very first birthday of my darling bloggy blog. I still can't believe that it will have been a whole year since I started this journey and it's coming up in less than a week! Guys, I pretty much feel like a mom getting ready for her child's birthday party!!--I'm super excited to celebrate her (yes my blog is a her) first birthday in style!

On the flipside of that, lately I found myself not really feeling my writing and getting more bogged down with statistics and numbers than I want to be. I feel like this month I let the stress and worry of an impending event (ie-the ball) drag me down.....not just in blogging but also in just my day-to-day goings on. And I hate that because it makes me an unhappy not-so-hot mess!

So my directive for June? Relax and be inspired by the little things. My blog is turning one. I've made some amazing friends through this little internet world. My amazing husband will be home for our second wedding anniversary (a blessing in itself), we usually make it to the beach every weekend and soak up some rays, the two of us are actively searching for a new member to add to our little family hopefully by the end of the month, I finally have an idea of where I want to be headed in these next few years......life is pretty good right now and I plan on making it a point this month to enjoy it!

Look for a ton of blogging-related posts coming as well as a ton of revamping of this little space! I'm really excited about this month and I love having you all along for the ride!

WHAT IS YOUR GOAL FOR THIS MONTH? HAVE YOU EVER JUST NEEDED SOME TIME TO ENJOY THE BLESSINGS YOU HAVE IN YOUR LIFE?
