10 Things Only Bloggers Will Understand

Well hey there, y'all!! Before I get started on today's post, I just wanted to say thank you, thank you for all the bloggy birthday wishes yesterday. I know it seems kind of silly for some to celebrate a birthday for, well, a completely inanimate object, but I do call it my bloggy baby for a reason!

Already I've gotten a ton of great feedback from you guys and I'm so excited for the changes I plan on bringing these next few months!  That being said, if you fill out my blog-iversary survey (and you really should) please PLEASE remember to leave a comment. Obviously the survey is completely anonymous so leaving a comment let's me know who to enter in the giveaway! Remember those prizes I told you about? Right now, about 10 of my amazing survey takers are missing out on winning either of those because I don't know who they are!! And that, my friends, makes me sad. Don't make me sad, ok, leave a comment!!!! (obviously you guys know this bugs me since it's bold twice in one paragraph!)

Ok, now that I have that out of the way!

1// You know what a linkup is and you've participated in one....or five, or a dozen.
Bloggers LOVE linkups. They're a great place to meet other bloggers and get your name out there, especially when you first start out. My personal favorites are linkups that revolve around a certain topic (like the old favorite 'Boys Behind the Blog') or ones that encourage you to link up specific posts instead of just your blog url.

2// That feeling you get when your blog reaches a milestone is still special to you.
It doesn't matter if it's 5 followers, 25, 100, 500, or a 1000--you still get that thrill just knowing that there are people out there who read and follow your blog. It pretty much never gets old no matter how big or small you are in the blog-osphere.

3// People think you're weird for opening up about your life on the internet.
Ok, I admit it--the whole concept of blogging is a little out there but to us bloggers, it totally makes sense to pour your heart out for the whole internet to see. To other people? Yeah, not so much.

4// Speaking of opening up, you still get slightly nervous when you hit the publish button on a post you poured your heart and soul into.
Come on, you know we all have those intensely personal posts hidden in our draft folders. A huge congratulations if you fought that pit-in-your-stomach feeling and hit the publish button. And if you haven't yet? You're amazing anyway just because you put your heart into words!!

5// You take photos/selfies for the sole purpose of putting them on your blog.
Bloggers are the people who make their husbands wait an extra 10 minutes before eating so they can get a photo of dinner beforehand (ahem, that's not a personal example or anything by the way). Great photos are our bread and butter just as much as our content so we totally make it a priority....or at least we try to.

6// You know that growing and keeping up a blog takes a lot more time than most people think.
There's a quote tucked into my blog planner that reads 'Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration'. I'd like to think Thomas Edison had blogging in mind as well as inventing the light bulb when he said that. Growing your blog takes time and lot of effort, but the end result is definitely worthwhile.

7// You've 'met' some great ladies on your blogging journey and might even have acquired some really great friends through the blog community.
I can name at least 15 or so lovely ladies right off the top of my head who I feel like I know personally....even more if I actually sat down and thought about it. These are definitely ladies I consider my bloggy pals and those relationships are pretty much what keeps me reading blogs and writing my own. Ever blogger needs a bloggy pal!!!

8// You have an opinion about sponsored posts, because well everyone has an opinion about sponsored posts.
I love them, you hate them, 'big' bloggers live by them.....you get the picture.

9// The more you put yourself out in the blogging world the better.
Comment, comment, comment. I had the worst time with this when I first started blogging because I was super shy. Even now I really have to force myself to comment on posts sometimes. BUT the thing to remember is commenting is like saying hi to someone, it starts a conversation which could start a friendship which then leads you to another bloggy buddy. TA-DA!!

10// Buttons are not just for clothes. They're also for blogs.
Blog buttons are my jam. I may or may not visit your blog because of how your button looks. I am a huge fan of pretty buttons. You know what else I'm a huge fan of? Having your pretty blog button on my sidebar!! In honor of the blog's one-year-aversary, I've revamped my sponsor options to make room for even more pretty faces on my sidebar. Check them out! I'd love to work with you!!!(and yes this is a shameless plug......no, I'm not sorry)
