Life According to Duke

Woof! Hey there, ladies and gents (are there any gents out there--mom says there aren't but I want to cover all my bases). I'm Duke and my new momma let me take over her 'blog' for the day.

I'm not sure exactly what a blog is really but mom says that you ladies would like to meet me so here I am. I'd pretty much do anything for my new mom and dad--they adopted me from the Humane Society last Friday and have been loving on me ever since. The people at the Hawaiian Humane Society took great care for me but it was SOOO noisy there--lots of other doggies looking for homes. But wait, you probably want to know how I came to live with my new parents, don't you?

It was exactly like every other day when I woke up Friday morning--people started filing in and I was sooo excited to meet them all. I paced in my pen and waited with a huge smile on my face. Hey I wanted to let everybody know I wanted  a home!!! Then I saw them! They were slowly making their way down the line of dog pens and the moment I saw them I knew I wanted them to be my family.

At first I wasn't sure if they were going to take me home because they spent a lot of time going from me to this gal a few pens down from me. She was a shy little gal--I winked at her once and she hid her face in her paws. I knew that they were serious about this whole getting-a-dog thing and I really wanted them to pick me so I made sure to smile wide and lick them whenever they came close enough. They took me out for a little walk and I made sure to be as loveable as possible. Then they handed me over to one of the workers and I felt my hopes dash. Nooooo!! They were going for the little grey pitbull after all then about ten minutes later, another of the gals who'd been taking care of me came to my pen with a leash and a collar....with a license on it!!! She brought me out to the desk and there they were--my new people!

It was pretty interesting trip home--I'm not sure my human boy knows his directions very well because we got lost a little bit in the city. I've never really been in a car before so that was a little bit of an adventure. Oh and I might have farted a little but, hey ya know, I'm a boy so they kinda had to expect I'd be a little smelly at times.

So far I've been at my new home for four days and I love my new people. Mom gives me treats and lets me lay down in her lap and Dad plays ball with me and gives me lots of loving. Mom always calls me a daddy's boy and I am a little bit but I'm just really happy to have my own people! Soooo yeah that's really all I have to say for now. I hope you guys liked meeting me but I think I'll turn it over to my mum.

Awww isn't he the cutest?? Since we got him from the shelter, we're not exactly sure how old he is but we're thinking around a 2 year old mastiff mix. He's pretty just a big old teddy bear though...he loves attention and is a pretty good boy....most of the time. It's only been a few days but he definitely has our hearts!!!
