Diamond Head Crater

Let me tell you something lovelies, keeping up with a blog and starting a design business while you're supposed to be on vacation is kind of tough! There just seems to be all kinds of stuff to do and too few hours in the day to do it all. I am loving it though!!!

While I'm getting everything figured out, I thought I'd give you all a mini field trip to Hawaii. Yesterday, Zach and I woke up at an unholy hour of the morning to beat the Honolulu traffic, and the heat, to hike Diamond Head.

Diamond Head and its observation tower were originally built as part of the coastal defense system in 1908. It's about a 2 mile hike from the parking lot to the summit and back which pretty much makes it a perfect morning hike. It includes 279 steps and a 225 foot long tunnel, complete with hyperventilation. Oh wait, it's probably just me who hyperventilates in tunnels. It's kind of worth it though because at the top you get an absolutely amazing view of southeastern coastline of Oahu and on a clear day you might be able to see a few of the other islands!

Ok so the last picture and the next one are actually from last year when we climbed Diamond Head. I didn't realize how green it was this time compared to last until I looked at this picture. Anyway though that's the observation tour at the very tip top of the crater. This time we decided not to climb up the hundred or so steps to the tip top and took photos at one of the observation areas a little lower down.

Please excuse this lovely picture of my butt and just look at the stairs. They're a killer, by the way, and there's whole other set that leads to the tippity top of the crater too.

Gorgeous, right!!!

Check out this lovely lady
