Project Date Your Husband

I've finally decided on a word to focus on in 2015.....you know, instead of those twelve or more New Year's resolutions that I can never seem to keep. My word for 2015 is intentional. Intentional means having to do with an aim that guides action, doing something deliberately.

My 2015 word of the year applies to lots of areas of my life--my work, this blog, my workout regiment....but none more than in my marriage.

What does a typical date night look for you and your significant other? Are your plans decided last minute or way in advance? Is your go-to date dinner and a movie or do you get creative? For us it usually goes something like this--
5:30 pm - Zach gets off work
6:00pm - We begin debating what to do with our Friday night
6:05pm - Start browsing the movies available at the theater
6:30pm - Finish choosing the movie we want to go see & deciding on dinner plans
7:15pm - Stepping out the door (late as usual)
7:30pm - Grab a quick bite at McDonalds/Wendys for dinner because the movie starts at 8pm and we didn't decide on dinner fast enough
8pm - Arrive at the movie theater, quickly buy tickets and settle in to watch the show

Ok so maybe that's not how it is every Friday night....sometimes we do actually make it to dinner and sometimes we just decide a movie night-in in our pajamas is the better option. However our date nights usually consist of some variation of "dinner and a movie". Obviously there's nothing wrong with that but it does tend to get a little boring (especially if the movies at the box office that week are insanely long and follow the stories of delusional convicts--hello Pain & Gain)

So to remedy that, this year I'm going to make it a focus to intentionally date my husband. For me this means, preparing at least 12 pre-planned date activities for us to do throughout the year. I'm calling it Project Date My Husband

Some of these date activities will be stay-at-home dates, some will be out on the town, some will even be long-distance. My main vision for this project is to have a special not-our-normal date night planned for every month at least one month in advance. That way we can completely skip the debating what to do with our Friday night and get straight to spending quality time with each other and getting new experiences as a couple!

I'm working on a list of date night activities as well as assembling some of the items we'll need for each as we speak. (I plan on stashing my monthly dates in separate envelopes and wrapping them up for Zach to open on Christmas Eve as the gift that keeps on giving....but shhhh--don't tell him that!!). And then I came up with another brilliant thought......maybe we're not the only couple who struggles with adding some creativity to their date nights.

And that's when I decided to make Project Date Your Husband a linkup! So all of you could join me in this journey of being intentional towards our spouses. I honestly can't wait to share with you guys all of the fun activities I have planned for the hubby and me....and I absolutely would love for YOU to join me!

I have quite a few amazing ladies joining me for this during this coming year....namely Faith from Life with Mrs G and the Artist as my cohost, three lovely co-co-hosts (is this a word?)  who will join us for a few months each, and twelve monthly cohosts. Don't worry there won't be any requirements for linking up like following all the cohosts or participating every month or anything like that......the only thing we ask is that you plan a fun date night activity for your spouse (hopefully in advance), snap a few pictures to share on your blog, and link up with us on the third Tuesday of each month!

You can get as fancy or as simple as you'd like with this! I will be posting ideas/themes at the beginning of the month to jumpstart your ideas (and mine).

Speaking of that, the "prompt" for January is a date doing something your spouse loves.  I'm excited to see all the unique activities you ladies come up with! The first linkup date is January 20th and I'll be having some truly amazing ladies join me for our first round--Gennie and Sarah, as well as Faith and myself.

The date I'm planning is something I think Zach will really enjoy kicking off the year with and I'm excited to see what my gals have planned for their hubbies!!

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK? IS PROJECT DATE YOUR HUSBAND SOMETHING YOU'RE INTERESTED IN TO JUMPSTART INTENTIONALLY DATING YOUR SPOUSE THIS YEAR?

If you're interested in cohosting for 2015, we have a few spots available and you can sign up here
If you're interested in getting monthly reminders for this linkup, just shoot me an email!!
