3 Ways I Want to Be Intentional during Off-Time

Hey gals! So it's official....the new year on the blog has begun! Have you taken a look at the new and improved design around here? I'm so excited to be starting out fresh and narrowing down my focus for this little space of mine. I can't wait to share more about marriage, the military, and the homemaking life with you guys this year. I hope you are as excited as I am!!

And to kick things off to a great start, I'm cohosting this month's edition of the Marriage & Relationship Goals with my gals, Amberly and Charlene. Following along with their marriage goals this past year has been so inspiring to me and I love that I'm able to take part in the linkup this month.

So what's my marriage goal for January? Being intentional with my off-time.

Here's the thing guys, I'm pretty much attached to my computer. It seems like I'm always doing something on it, whether for the blog or for book research or whatever. Even when Zach is home from work, I find myself gravitating towards using the computer instead of spending quality time interacting with him.

You know what the really ironic part is? Most of the time what I'm doing on the computer is pretty much just fluff!!.....aka,something I procrastinated doing during the day or something mindless like scrolling through Pinterest.  It's just become this huge chunk of wasted time that the hubs and I are together for but we're not really doing anything together. And with my goal of being intentional this year, wasting time is just not on my agenda!

What is on the agenda though are these three goals to making my off-time more intentional.

//1// Make a work day schedule. I am guilty of forgetting half the things on my to-do list--mostly because my to-dos are in my head and not written down. This month I plan on putting my darling Heart and Arrow daily planner to good use and writing down everything I want to get done each week. That way I'll be able to come up with a schedule of sorts for each day and use the time I have when Zach's at work to complete the bulk of my to-do list.

//2// Set aside 30 minutes to an hour each evening for all things digital. This seems like the exact opposite of what my original goal is but it's not. Zach likes playing 2 or 3 video games during the evening but I know sometimes he's playing specifically because I'm busy on the computer. Setting aside an hour-ish for him to play and for me to either do something on the computer will, I think, actually help limit our time.

//3// Put away the phone! Ok, Zach can't really do this since he gets calls and texts after he comes home but for me it's definitely something I can make a point of. Am I the only one who spends an insane amount of time browsing pinterest and instagram on the phone??? Definitely need to make this a priority this month.
