Five, Four, Three, Two, One

Well hello there Friday, aren't you a sight for sore eyes! And hi there my bloggy friends. I am so happy that it's the weekend--hubby's been gone this week and even though that's a super short amount of time I'm happy as pie to have him all to myself until after Christmas.   Since it's El Viernes, I figured I'd put a little different spin on the whole Friday fives type thing. I admit this idea isn't original to me--I saw it on Lisa's blog Two Martinis and I've always wanted to copy it at least once. So....thanks so much to Lisa for the inspiration and without further ado......

5 Favorite Things 1. This Picture--There are very few pictures of myself that I actually like, even fewer of those were taken recently. This one though, taken by the hubs while we were setting up for our Christmas card shoot last Sunday, will make the perfect blurb picture for the blog once Christmas is over and I have to redo my design-again.  2. Paperless Post--Through Belinda, I found this website which lets you make gorgeous cards to send online. Ok so they're not as pretty as Minted but they were absolutely free for me (they give you 25 credits free just for joining) so I got to send all of my blog friends Christmas cards via email (if you didn't get one, I still have six up for grabs). It saved my butt too because I forgot to send my mom a birthday card and was able to personalize one just for her and email it. She got it in time and she loved it--all is well on the homefront. 3. My Hubby--Obviously Zach's one of my favorite people in the world and I always find myself appreciating him a little more when he's been gone for a bit. And since I know he reads my little blog, I'm just gonna get sappy for a second and say 'I love you Zachary. Kisses.' There I got that out of my system...well, not really, but that's all you all will have to hear.  4. New Girl--I'd seen people raving about the series 'New Girl' for months now and I've always meant to give it a try. However, it's now on its third season and I really didn't want to just barge into the middle of it so I was biding my time for reruns. Well, there haven't been any, but with my week of alone-ness I've had plenty of time to browse Netflix and wouldn't you know, they had season 1 & 2. Guess who marathonned two seasons of New Girl for two days straight? This girl! And I loved it! I want to watch all of season three and I want them to go on for seven more seasons.  5. Olaf the Snowman--So I told y'all on Sunday that Zach and I had gone to see Frozen and that we loved it. Well, I haven't stopped--I would actually really love to go see it again this week but I have a feeling the hubs will want to go see the 'Desolation of Smaug' instead. Grr!
Four Confessions

• I have no idea what to make for Christmas dinner. Truth be told I'm feeling lazy and sort of guilty that we didn't get through all of our turkey from Thanksgiving--it just doesn't seem smart to make another big meal whose leftovers we have no intention of eating. Any ideas for a small but still sort of fancy meal?
• One reason why I hate when Zach isn't home is there is no one to kill all the numerous bugs that wander into my house--except me. And there really is nothing worse than strolling into the bathroom to do your business, flipping on the light, and seeing a bug the size of your thumb scurrying around your sink. EEEEWWWW!!!
• I hate that today is Friday the thirteenth. If it was up to me Zach and I would curl up in a pile of blankets by the Christmas tree and not set a foot outside today. It's not really that I'm superstitious because that's really the only phobia I have, I just don't like that day if I think about it too much. Here's to not thinking about it. 
• This Christmas I'm really missing snow and the smell of Christmas trees. Everything you love at Christmas time that I don't have here in Hawaii actually.

One Special Announcement

Recently, I've been working on an idea for a new blog series 'The Dependent Diaries'. It's pretty much me talking about different aspects of my life as a military wife. I'm a little nervous about starting this series so it may be a little while in coming but I encourage you to check back and read it--whether or not you're affiliated with the military. So yeah--that's my announcement for the week.
